The Arcade Theater, located at 5 Liberty Street in Downtown Charleston, existed from 1948 until 2003. The theater, designed in a modern art fashion, originally opened as a movie theater in 1948, and was highly popular in that role until the late 1970s. From 1984 to 1997, the Arcade existed as a gay nightclub.

In 2000, the College of Charleston bought the Arcade building, using it as overflow space (as the property is directly adjacent to campus - next to the J.C. Long Building and Business School). The theater was demolished in 2003 to extend the College's Business School building.
