Ashley River

The Ashley River, named after one of the Lord's Proprietors, Lord Ashley (Anthony Ashley Cooper), granted charter to the Carolina Colony, flows about 36 miles from Cypress Swamp to Charleston Harbor. The Ashley River is a diverse river of natural habitats and numerous historic sites of regional and national significance.
