Berkeley County is directly north of Charleston. It includes North Charleston, Goose Creek, and Daniel Island. The county seat is in Moncks Corner.
Daniel Island debate
After becoming a popular residential community location, the residents of Daniel Island have made repeated attempts to move Daniel Island from Berkeley County to Charleston County. Primarily, this will move the school system on the Island to the Charleston County.
Google recently began a data warehouse in Berkeley County. The data center will be built on a 520-acre site in the Mount Holly Commerce Park and Google will pay an estimated $1.96 million in properties taxes to the county.
