Blackbaud Inc. is a supplier of software specifically designed for nonprofit organizations. Its products focus on fundraising, financial management, direct marketing, Web site management, school administration, and ticketing.

Some of the software solutions it offers are: The Raiser’s Edge®, Blackbaud Enterprise CRM™, Blackbaud Direct Marketing™, Team Approach®, The Financial Edge™, The Education Edge™, The Patron Edge®, Blackbaud® NetCommunity™, The Information Edge™, WealthPoint™, ProspectPoint™, and donorCentrics™, as well as a wide range of consulting, analytical, and educational services.

The company was founded in 1981, and now employs more than 1400 people, with over 16,000 customers worldwide. Its headquarters is in Charleston, South Carolina, with operations in Cambridge, Massachusetts; Toronto, Ontario; London, England; Glasgow, Scotland; and Sydney, Australia. In 2006, Blackbaud had revenues of $192 million. On July 22, 2004, the company announced an Initial Public Offering and is now quoted on the NASDAQ under the stock ticker BLKB.

Blackbaud's name is a pun on the word "blackboard," which was used for planning the company's initial goals when it was primarily a software provider to educational institutions.
