Carolina Day

Carolina Day (June 28th) is a celebration of the American colonist's victory over the British at the Battle of Sullivan's Island on June 28th, 1776. This victory is believed to be a key victory for the colonists in turning the tide of the war. Some form of celebration for Carolina Day has occurred almost every year since 1777 in Charleston.
2006 Celebration
Festivities planned for Carolina Day 2006 include ringing of the bells at St. Michaels Church and St. Phillips Church, a special church service at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, a wreath laying service at White Point Gardens, and an evening ceremony at Fort Moultrie on Sullivan's Island.
