CharlestonWiki:Publicity Ideas
From CharlestonWiki
This would be a good place to discuss ideas for getting the word out about the wiki.
Definitely the Weekly Geekly in the City Paper --PopeFelix 19:45, 2 May 2006 (CDT) ..and.. Done! --BrianMuller 07:10, 17 May 2006 (EDT)
- Handout flyers or get a booth at The Charleston Farmers Market
- Leave flyers, posters around coffee shops--Mcg 15:12, 7 May 2006 (EDT)
- Insert link into Email signatures. AdamBrightwell 09:27, 26 May 2006 (EDT)
- Press release to the P&C? -- Satyap 11:24, 5 June 2006 (EDT)
- CraigsList.org? As for email signatures, do we have a standard signature set up? -- Beau.Lyle 06:24, 6 June 2006 (EDT)
- I think if we introduced this wiki project to the local schools, teachers would be thrilled to incorporate it as part of their lesson. We can make a list of topics that need to be researched and written about, and have the students contribute the material. --Beau.Lyle 20:39, 7 June 2006 (EDT)
- I had a meeting with the Director of Educational Technology for the Charleston County School District (yesterday), and she is going to look for ways the schools could use the wiki. -- http://www.charlestonwiki.org/images/swirl.jpg Brian Muller 06:52, 6 July 2006 (EDT)
- I was thinking of asking businesses if we could place a flier in a window denoting that they were on "the wiki". A bad proof of concept here. The logo looks terrible for some reason in the pdf... -- http://www.charlestonwiki.org/images/swirl.jpg Brian Muller 07:28, 8 June 2006 (EDT)
- Here[1] is the PDF flyer that Sherman put together. Please download print and distribute.
- I think getting places like Blackbaud, Trident Tech, College of Charleston, or BenefitFocus.com which are local places that have lots of computer minded young people is a good place to start. Most big organizations like this have email list serves or newsletters. If we could get a small blurb on a newsletter or a list serve email it may help add intrest.Scott 17:37, 27 July 2006 (EDT)
- Sounds good, if people don't deem it as too spammy - I might send it out to the CSAlumni listserv that College of Charleston CS has just set up - if any of you alumni haven't signed up, you can find info off the CofC CS website. Very low volume so far...--Turkett 00:19, 28 July 2006 (EDT)
- Not sure if it'll help much, but I've tagged all of my Charleston photos on Flickr with "Charleston" and "charlestonwiki". Might catch the eye of a casual searcher for Charleston pics... --Turkett 00:19, 28 July 2006 (EDT)
- Hey kids, Mike Allen from 98X and The Bridge at 105.5. We'd be happy to give the Wiki some love, but I need a qualified expert to be on the air about it. Let me know who wants to come on and we'll get it set up on both stations. Mike Allen Rockdoc98@aol.com
- I added standard-size (468x60) Charleston Wiki banner (see logos) ad to Charleston Banner Exchange.
