What stuff should live here?

This is a wiki devoted to storing information about things and people in Charleston, SC. The hope is that it will eventually hold much of the collective knowledge of locals about the Lowcountry. It is meant to store auxillary information that either would not or should not appear on sites like Wikipedia. For instance, here are some general topics that you should be able to find here:

  • Current events in the city and informative reviews
  • Restaurant information
  • Neighborhood descriptions
  • Information on local political figures and celebs
  • History of specific buildings
  • More indepth history about certain areas / people / things
  • Anything too locale specific to be contained elsewhere. For instance, the fact that Charlestonians call West Ashley West Trashley is information specific to Charleston and should go here.

Some things that probably belong somewhere else (like Wikipedia):

  • General history of the city
  • General information on nationally/internationally famous Charlestonians

Who can contribute?

Quite simply, anyone can contribute. Everyone is an editor. If you've got a little spare time, go ahead and get started. Even if you can only contribute the first paragraph of an article, or fix a single spelling mistake, every little bit helps. Also feel free to dig out some change from the couch cushions and donate (all donations are used for hosting costs).
