The Folly Beach Coast Guard Station is a now abandoned Coast Guard station located on Folly Beach. According to a USA Today article, the station was only used during World War II. Most of what's left of the station is the foundation of buildings. The area is currently managed by the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission.

The area is open to the public, with parking available at the entrance. Best known for it's views of the Morris Island Lighthouse, the area is also used for crabbing, bird-watching, and walking along the beach. The beachfront is fairly isolated, as the strong current in the area prevents swimming. On July 4th, 2006, a man drowned in the area after slipping in the surf.

Location

The abandoned Coast Guard Station is at the east end of Folly Beach. This area is accessible by following Ashley Avenue east from Center Street until it ends.
