Gourmetisserie
which is a Restaurant

The Gourmetisserie was located at the Corner of South Market and Church Streets, in The Market. It was a large, open space with 20 food booths around the perimeter. The center was filled with tables and chairs. Unlike the contemporary mall food court, it had no chain restaurants and had a large number of ethnic food establishments. The Gorm, as it was often called, hosted Chinese, Greek, Mexican, Italian, and French stalls. In addition, there were purveyors of Lowcountry cuisine, barbecue (with mustard based sauce), seafood, frozen yogurt, baked goods, pizza and a basic burger joint. It was inexpensive and fun, plus everyone in your group could find a suitable meal. Late night jazz concerts took place in the Gourmetisserie during the Spoleto Festival. It was popular with teenagers, tourists, families, just about everyone.
