Mark Jones

Mark R. Jones is an eighth generation native of South Carolina and the author of four books on southern history.
Jones is a professional Charleston tour guide and can be found driving mule-drawn carriages and conducting night time walking tours based on the Wicked Charleston books.
Publications
- 2005 The History Press published Mark's first book Wicked Charleston: The Dark Side of the Holy City which Jones calls the "tabloid version of Charleston's social history": wayward ministers, prostitutes, political scandals, slave rebellions, murder and good ole sex.
- 2006 Wicked Charleston, Vol. II: Prostitutes, Politics & Prohibition which covered the debauchery of Charleston from 1860 into the 20th century. It includes stories of bootleggers, glamorous madams, the violence and corruption of Reconstruction and the bizarre story of the transvestite socialite.
- 2007 The History Press published two true crime books by Jones. South Carolina Killers collected 10 of South Carolina's most fascinating murders between 1900 - 2005. Palmetto Predators is the history of serial killers in South Carolina.
