Rebel Sinclair is an author and tour guide in Charleston.

Rebel Sinclair was born in Steilacoom, WA on April 12 and spent her childhood in the upper Midwest outside of Superior, WI. Her first literary achievement was a grade school poem about Valentine's Day and she has continued mostly in the vein of romance ever since. As a teen, her favorite authors were Julie Garwood, Amanda Quick, and Kathleen Woodiwiss, enjoying fast-paced plots with strong heroes and heroines. She has also been a lifelong fan of gothic literature, such as the works of Anne Rice and Edgar Allan Poe.

After graduating high school she did a brief stint at the University of Minnesota-Duluth before leaving college in favor of the school of life. She resided in Duluth, MN for the next several years, writing late in the evenings by hand. She has been a licensed and experienced motorcyclist since age 16 and has been a PADI certified scuba diver since 2000.

Long fascinated with sailing and the sea, Rebel has always enjoyed stories of piracy and the romance of the ocean. The siren's song would not be ignored - and on a whim she moved to Charleston, SC on April 12, 2002. For Rebel, it was like coming home - the first shot of the Civil War was fired on Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor on April 12, 1861.

She quickly became enraptured with Charleston and her legacy - from the Golden Age of Piracy through the Revolution, the antebellum period to the Civil War, Charleston's story has been forged in flood, fire, wind and war - a legacy as tempestuous as the nature of Rebel Sinclair herself. Working at a downtown hotel she began writing the draft of The Devil of Charleston and through research for the book became involved with the tour industry. She became a City of Charleston registered tour guide in 2004, and after ten years of struggling for an audience, had The Devil of Charleston published by Savage Press in 2005. Ironically, Savage Press is located in Superior, WI - but she had to come to Charleston to find them. Her second novel, Spirit of the Shadows, was published in June 2006.

Her favorite periods of world history are the Golden Age of Piracy, the American Revolution, and Medieval Europe, but she is also intruiged by the antebellum and Civil War periods in America, as well as western expansion and Prohibition. She currently has manuscripts in various stages of completion set in each of these eras. She hopes to publish her antebellum novel, Forbidden, in the near future.
